I have been asked to be a creative support for a new project called Art For Heart's Sake, a social enterprise that seeks to raise awareness and encourage charitable donation through creative engagement, supporting London based charity Kids Company. In partnership with Hipstamatic, a competition ran during November and December and the initiative was to photograph hearts. The top 100 submissions from this have been selected and will be displayed and auctioned early next year in an exhibition at the European Design Centre, Margaret Street, London, between the 8th - 15th February 2012. All proceeds from the auction will go to Kids Company. Alongside my creative support I will be creating and donating a new artwork for the exhibition and auction, as seen below.

Today saw the launch of Random Spectacular, the first edition of a new publication by St. Judes. Working in collaboration with poet Markus Lloyd (he wrote the wonderful texts that compliment and enhance the images so beautifully) I have contributed two works to the publication entitled Happy All Smiles and A Posy For You. Random Spectacular is a collaborative exploration of the visual arts, literature, nature, travel and much more. Other contributors to the publication include Angie Lewin, Rob Ryan, Mark Hearld and Jonny Hannah. This first publication is a limited edition of 750 copies and is available for £17.50. Today Lucy Gough and I helped installed our new two person exhibition Troubadour at Hemingway Art in Cassington, near Oxford. Here is a preview of one of my brand new works in the show. The piece entitled Kingston is an unique sculpture made from driftwood, rope, perspex, acrylic fluorescent rods and metal. Open Thursdays - Sundays, Troubadour opens this Saturday 26th November at 12pm and runs until the 18th December 2011.

Here is my sleeve design for the new SHIELDS single White Knuckle Tight Grip. The song is getting a lot of attention with plays on Radio 1. Released on the 28th November 2011, the band embark on a mini tour at the end of November/beginning of December to promote the single. Yesterday I finished my public art commission for the new SmartLIFE building in Cambridge. Fabricated by A J Wells, the work entitled Always Thoughts Of Tomorrow In Mind is made up of four vitreous enamel panels. The left two panels have light emitting diodes that will shine the image of a pinwheel at night. Today I started work on my print for the Ghosts of Gone Birds portfolio at the Jealous studio. I am one of eighteen artists along with such artists as Charming Baker, Rob Ryan, Angie Lewin and Billy Childish who were asked to create a new work for the set. The edition of 125, published by Jealous, will be launched at the Ghosts of Gone Birds exhibition at the Rochelle School, London on November 1st. The print is available for £195 unframed or part of the set for £3400. A large percentage of each sale will go to the charity Bird Life International.

My print entitled I've Been Sorry For A While, pictures the Wake Island Rail, a bird hunted to extinction by the starving Japanese forces during WW2 who occupied this island in 1941 but became cut off from the supply route in 1944. The last bird was killed and eaten in 1945.

Next week I will be taking a trip to Münster in Germany for my new solo exhibition and a residency with the Druckvereinigung Bentlage at the Kloster Bentlage Cutural Centre and Museum. This week I am in the Jealous studio making a start on a new screen print called Always Thoughts for the Eastern Pavilions portfolio. I am making the work in collaboration with Smiths Row in Bury St. Edmunds. The print will be an edition of 144 plus 36 AP's and will be launched in late September 2011. The portfolio features twelve artists including Ryan Gander, Damian Reach and Colin Self working in collaboration with a number of galleries from the Eastern region such as Kettles Yard in Cambridge, Norwich Art Gallery and Wysing Arts.

This week has been all about Charming Baker. Myself and the other members of Jealous Gallery and Print Studio set up a pop up studio at Mr Baker's exhibition in the Mercer Street Studios in Covent Garden, London. Continuing on from the successful event we ran with Charming in New York last year, we ran a limited run Charming Baker screen print on the Private view that people could print themselves and then take away as a souvenir of the evening.

The sell out show continues until the 31st July and Jealous will be running print workshops every Saturday between 1 and 3 pm.

Yesterday I was awarded a commission to produce the artwork for the new Low Carbon Centre building in Cambridge for SmartLIFE. The artwork will be placed on cladding to the top right of the building where the frame is currently in these images. I am currently working with a great new band called Shields from Newcastle who very kindly asked me to create some artwork for them. In the last week I have been producing a sleeve for their promo single Spires (first digital mock up front and back pictured above). Adrian Bushby (Muse, U2, Foo Fighters, Two Door Cinema Club) has mixed this single and is working on other material by the band. You can listen to that single and other songs by the band here. They are playing a number of live gigs across London and the rest of the country so go check them out soon. You might even catch a glimpse of one my designs. I will update with more Shields stuff in the next couple of months.

I have recently been working on a piece for the Ghosts of Gone Birds exhibition that will open in Liverpool next month and then travel to London later this year. Each participating artist was given an extinct bird to make a work about and mine was the Maupiti Monarch which was originally found on Tahiti. While I was at aspex I was able to see the finished canvas bags that the gallery have made as part of their 30th Birthday celebrations. The bag features two of my designs, one on either side. For a short while there will be a very limited number available in the gallery shop.

After the success of the Elephant Parade in London in 2010, I have been asked to contribute to Jungle City, the new project by the Elephant Family that will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland in August and September later this year during the Fringe Festival. Last week I spent a couple of days painting a tiger for the event and here are the images of it.

This morning I played for Tate in their first inter museum 11-a-side game and it was a cracker! Are being beaten 3 - 0 by the National Maritime Museum in a 7-a-side warm up game, we turned it around when the game switched to 11-a-side, beating them 4 - 2. Here is a picture of the starting XI for the scrap book. Next up the British Museum in May.

UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre

The charity auction for the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre has been confirmed to take place on the 30th June 2011. My specially commissioned limited edition work Airplanes will be shown and auctioned off along with the other artists who contributed to the hoarding project earlier in the year and other commissioned artists for the new hospital. A brochure will be produced and available before the auction to showcase the works featured. Please join the event at the Her House Gallery on Drysdale Street to raise money for this important building and charity. More details will be posted in the coming two months.

Last night I went and saw the Private View of work by Matthew Green at the Hospital Club. Matt and me go back a long way having studied art together in our foundation year in Cambridge. His print and ink drawings are well worth a look if you are passing along Endell Street in Covent Garden.

Last Monday Adam Hayes and myself had our first sailing lesson. Once we had conquered the wind and the tide on the River Dart, we found we really quite enjoyed ourselves! Next stop buying a boat!

Jealous Needs You Install

The Jealous Needs You Portfolio was installed at the Jealous Gallery today. Here are a selection of photographs from the set up. The portfolio includes my print Airplanes (Version 1). The exhibition opens this Thursday 31st March and there is a drinks reception on Saturday 2nd April between 2 and 4 pm. The show then continues until the 24th April.

Limited Edition for Aspex Gallery 30th Birthday Celebrations

I have very kindly been asked to design and create the artwork (pictured above) to go on both sides of a canvas bag for the 30th birthday celebrations for Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth happening in June this year. The bag will be a limited edition of 250 and a small number of them will be available to buy at my solo project with aspex between the 27th April and 5th June. Having worked closely with aspex since my graduation from the Royal College of Art in 2006 and being featured in their inaugural exhibition at the Vulcan Building, I am honoured to be asked to produce an edition for the gallery celebrations.

Souvenir London Mural completed at the Courtauld Institute of the Arts

Today I completed my Souvenir London mural at the Courtauld Institute of the Arts. The work will be on display from the 16th March until the 24th April. The work will stay black and white for the first two weeks of the exhibition until Saturday 26th March when it will be coloured in by visitors to a workshop between 12 and 4pm. Everyone is invited to help me colour the painting. I hope you can make it!

Install for Alien Nation, Great Western Studios

Yesterday Lucy Gough and I with the help of our little helper, installed our work for Alien Nation, a group exhibition at the Great Western Studios in London.
